Platelet and Erythrocyte Parameters in Type 2 Diabetic Moroccan Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract Introduction Complete blood count parameters have gained renewed interest as predictors of endothelial dysfunction in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Thus, the aim this study was to observe changes platelet and erythrocyte between diabetics nondiabetics evaluate these relation glycemic control. Materials Methods This cross-sectional performed Mohammed VI University Hospital, Marrakech, Morocco, from January 2020 July 2021. A total 307 Moroccan patients were enrolled study, which included 222 diabetic 85 nondiabetics. The divided into two groups (hemoglobin A1c [HbA1c] ≥ 6.5%) B (HbA1c < according their glycated hemoglobin levels (HbA1c). Biological processed per standard technique. Data analysis using SPSS statistical software. Results significant difference mentioned regarding mean corpuscular volume (MCV) (p 0.001), red cell distribution width (RDW) volume/platelet = 0.023) MCV RDW lower group than 0.004; p 0.04), while MPV higher 0.342). significantly negatively correlated with HbA1c population (r –0.182; 0.006). On other hand, a positive correlation +0.184; Conclusion Our showed that correlate T2DM can be used reproducible inexpensive means ensure proper control status. Further studies are warranted define specific values predictive complication risk population.
